You get cockchafer from having sex on a sandy beach. The Cockchafer beetle is a European bug which to the best of my knowledge was always called a Cockchafer. In certain parts of Britland it has local names including May Bug. It's also known as Billy Witch in some other parts and in the eastern part of Britland for some reason it's called a Spang Beetle.

You do Pam, but it's not just Americans that have colloquial names for bugs, I bet it happens in every corner of the planet.

Well now we called them May Bug in Germany when I was a child, nothing to do with sandy beaches or sex. There certainly were some fertile imaginations across the English channel, must be the weather . We used to catch them after they would hatch and keep 1 or 2 in a wooden matchbox for several weeks feeding them birch leaves. They were an inexpensive alternative to buying a pet and tought us how to take care of the same.
