Jeez I hate ya. Grin you only put them up to tease me because everything in our yard is curling up.

I really like the Lotus, they're stupendous looking things. I think I like the leaf more than flowers though. does that make me strange?

The Pride of Barbados is one I don't recall seeing or hearing of before, very splendiferous it is too. We couldn't get any Water Hyacinth this year as it's a banned plant in our state and no one on line would sell us any, I would have liked some because the ones we got from Heather last year grew really well.

I really like lotus too, but don't have them anymore.  We only have one water lily....I don't like playing in the water plants anymore.  I think the lotus leaves are really cool....like to throw a small amount of water on them and watch it bead up and roll around.  Cool
Those spider lilys are cool too.

One day, I'm going to find a desert rose.  They are really pretty, and I have wanted one since you all posted yours on here before.  When we went to Freeport Bahamas in May on a cruise and took an excursion to  Garden of the Groves......they had a whole bunch of them for sale for $10 each....I got excited until I remembered and Gene reinforced that I couldn't take it back on to the ship.... Undecided  One day......

Following Pam's posting last year we got some of the Desert Roses on line. They were really small, but they're doing OK although I think it may be a number of years before we see any flowers from them.

Thanks y'all!  Cheesy I love the lotus leaves too! Water hyacinth is not allowed here either but it will never escape my ponds. Even though it's hot and dry, aren't your water plants doing great, Fuzzy? The Pride of Barbados is the only in-ground plant that I showed. Most of my garden just survives the summer and comes to life and starts blooming in the fall.

Ruth, I have been toying with the idea of trying to take cuttings from the desert rose. If I do and they take, I'll send you one.

Very Nice Pam.

I too am a Lotus fan. I love the way the water beads and runs off the leaves during a Rain.

Florida has their own native Lotus (Nelumbo Lutea)

Gorgeous flowers you two...Nothing like a lotus.. Wink

The spider lilies are so lacey like and delicate looking. Grin

Pam, Do you have to take your flowers inside during the winter?

The desert rose, bananas and plumeria come in. The POB gets 12 inches of mulch over it's roots. Everything else stays out. I only have a few tropicals that I baby through winter.

The BOP dies back to roots but I have held it out there for 3 winters. That is a very protected southern exposure though and under my neighbor's big magnolia.
