He passed in his sleep sometime after dinner last night. I want to go in my sleep too.

It's bittersweet, I spoke to him yesterday and he sounded the happiest that I'd heard him in a long time. He told me that he was going to show up at my son's house with two new suitcases so that he could take the twins back home with him, we had a great laugh over that. I am so glad that I got to talk to him yesterday. The sun rose and set on my son's behind in my dad's eyes. He really wanted to hold those new babies that were to carry on the Cunningham name.

I'm the eldest and will be making the arrangements. It hasn't hit home just yet. I cried but it's still unreal to me.

Peaceful thoughts are welcome. His name is Jerry.  Cry

So sorry Pam.  It's not easy to lose your Dad - especially on a holiday.   I'm glad you have a nice memory of your conversation with him.  I will pray for comfort and peace for you and your family during this sad time.  Hugs....

We got through the funeral without any arrests or murders! You'd have to know my family to truly understand  Wink I'm sad that we lost our dad, but it felt wonderful to reconnect with my half siblings.
We are supposed to all get together for a long weekend this spring.

Hugs Pam, so sorry for your loss.  Sounds like he had a peaceful death, one we all hope for!  The only time our family gets together is at funerals or weddings...mostly funerals, we are all getting long in the tooth!  Hope you are doing ok and finally had that cry!

A couple weeks have passed and I have a funny story to share.

I was dealing with a female funeral director and grief counselor. She kept breaking down crying and saying that she knew my dad personally. This went on for days as we worked together to get all of the details in place. Finally after the funeral, I had enough of her crying and in my opinion, unprofessional behavior and asked her exactly how she knew my dad.

They met when she arranged my step mom's funeral in January and had apparently been dating! My dad was always a bit of a ladies man, but honestly I thought he was past dating and womanizing! She was young too, probably no older than me!

And to think, I was worried how he was doing after my step mom passed away, he never mentioned a thing!  Cheesy

That's a pretty cool story. He sounds like he was a gay old blade. Cool
