Hello... gob smacked here.  When I went in to visit this morning I was told that Dez is being discharged tomorrow p.m. (Tuesday) I mean jaysus.... she underwent open heart surgery just last Friday. But really she's come on in leaps and bounds each day since the operation and is looking forward to being home... Me.... I'm doing the happy dance. |

How is she doing at home? Are you a great nurse or what? She's doing remarkedly well Pam, and yes, I am a great nurse albeit a very tired and worn out one. Great News. Very happy to hear the surgery went well and that Dez is getting back home.
Cheers Steve, the surgery went great and I'm glad she's home, but she's even happier to be out of the hospital. Goody! They don't keep them long any more
You got that right Ms. Ruth, I was totally amazed when they told us she was going home so soon after major surgery. Happy to have her home though. |

I so understand the desire to be out of the 'fishbowl' that is CICU.
Can you get some temporary help Fuzzy? Even someone to clean and cook would give you a bit of a break.

Yep... There's not much in the way of privacy in the place, for all that though they were an amazing team of nurses in the place.
Can you get some temporary help Fuzzy? Even someone to clean and cook would give you a bit of a break.
The neighbour across the road has offered to come sit with Dez if I feel I need a break, which is really nice of her, although I feel it would seem to me that I'd be deserting her when she needs me most. Silly huh?  |

Take advantage of your neighbor's offer Fuzzy. Taking a short break will help you in the long run. Does not need to be for hours and hours, just enough to take a deep breath and relax knowing that Dez is in the good hands of a caring neighbor. Take your cell phone so you can be reached. We all care deeply for our family and once things have settled down it is time for a little self care. Not selfishness mind you, but we all need some time. I hope this writing comes across as me trying to be helpful out of concern for both you and Dez.
