Please forgive me that I'm just going to repeat (copy and paste) what I wrote on Gemstone..but it's been a long day for me...

For a little over the past month, Lil has been having pressure and pain in her lower abdomen.  She figured it was bowel related and had a colonoscopy at the end of February, which showed no issued.  She scheduled a visit with our regular doctor, but he was out on vacation and she ended seeing an associate who didn't really help, so she rescheduled with our doctor when he returned last Monday.

She had an ultrasound yesterday (Friday) where they found that her abdomen was filled with fluid and they couldn't see her ovaries or uterus so the doctor ordered a CAT scan.  Unfortunately, the soonest that could get her scheduled for an outpatient CAT scan was next Thursday, so the doctor suggested that - if her pain continued - to call his office this weekend and then go to the emergency room for admission to the hospital...this might speed up the tests.

Well, it did.  She had the CAT scan this afternoon and at 4pm the doctor came in and said it looked like she had a mass on her ovaries and it's possibly cancerous.

So that's all I know for now..except that I'm hoping that they're jumping the gun, and - when they go in to look further - it'll be nothing.

Thanks for letting us know, its easier to keep up on things like that here than at facebook, I always miss her posts...

Is she still in the hospital?

She is still in the hospital and probably will be for a few days...they need to drain the fluid from her and will probably do a biopsy as well.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Lil and of course your family. I'm hoping that they are just preparing you for the worst and that the outcome of the biopsy reveals something less dangerous.

How scary!! My thoughts are with you and the entire family.  Something like this effects everyone, and I'm sure the kids are all upset too.  Hugs to all and hopefully it's all a mistake. Keep us posted. Prayers just went out for Diamond Lil.

Damn I am sorry.. This hits so close to home it's scarey. I too hope that when the biopsy is done it turns out to be something other than cancer. As I understand it if it's on/in the ovaries they can be removed along with the mass. Not a pleasant thing to have done, but a whole lot better than any alternative.

Of course the main hope is that Lil and yourself are bearing up under the strain that I know from personal experience can be devastating. Hoping you get an answer soon and that it's a positive prognosis for the future.

We saw the Oncologist and GYN today.

According to the Oncologist, they saw markers in Wanda's blood tests that indicate cancer, but they were low enough that she can't say it's definitely cancer.

Tomorrow, they are going to draw some of the fluid out of her abdomen to alleviate her discomfort and also to collect sample cells so they can test them.  Hopefully by Weds we will know for sure what we're looking at.

In the meantime it's hoped she'll be home tomorrow or Tuesday.

The hospital has wireless access and Lil's using my netbook...

I guess the irony is that yesterday, Second Life was kicking off it's participation in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event.  Lil and I are both co-captains on a team there.
